How To Show Someone You Love Them

Between our demanding schedules and obligations, sometimes it can be easy to forget the work we need to do to nurture our relationships. The simple gestures or compliments we usually dish out to our loved ones are not prioritized and can even fall by the wayside. But as we know, human connection is what gives meaning to our lives, and what makes us happy.

This is why I want to talk about the Five Love Languages. If you’re not familiar with the 5 Love Languages, you gotta check them out! Basically, these languages have been identified as the five main ways that we speak and understand emotional love. I’ve found these so helpful in nourishing my relationships and, in particular, the second love language: acts of service.

In a nutshell, acts of service represent the physical things we do to express our love and care for others. For example, picking up your friend’s dry-cleaning or running errands for them. This love language has been on my mind recently because I’ve been actively thinking about how I can increasingly signal to my friends and family that I really care. This is particularly important to me because life is busy (!), and I often don’t have a lot of time to spend with my beloveds, but I do want to express my affection to them.

The best thing about acts of service is that they don’t have be difficult. The tiniest of gestures can make a huge difference to others, and make them feel appreciated. Watch my video to hear about some of the things I’ve been doing to signal my peeps that I love them!

And here’s my takeaway for you: What are some acts of service that you’ll do after today to show your love to others?
