The Small Act that Will Help Create a Kinder World


When a homeless person on the street asks you for money, do you acknowledge them? When you get onto an elevator, do you say hello to the person standing there? If you’re at the office late and the cleaners arrive, do you say hello?

Most of us are so busy in our lives that we don’t take time to acknowledge people. It feels easier to ignore what’s happening around us and keep moving. But what if the simple act of opening ourselves up to others—and, specifically, taking the time to acknowledge strangers—had the power to change our lives and our world for the better?

In this week’s video, I talk about how signaling to others (even in small ways) that their presence matters has the power to create a kinder, more inclusive world.
