We Need to Call Out Classism

As you’ll have heard me share before, I grew up in a household run by immigrant parents and my parents were very careful with what we spent money on. I was painfully aware of how the kids around me had so much more “fancy stuff” because I was bullied for not having what they had. As a result, I’m still sensitive today to the classism that permeates society despite the privilege I now enjoy.

Our society places significant value on being affluent and on needing to flaunt our “bling” in order to feel complete or whole, and we judge others for not having as much. I see it everywhere!

In this week’s video, I share my thoughts (disdain!) on the prevalence of classism, even in our ordinary social interactions, and why it needs to stop!
