When it Comes to Standing in My Power, Sorry, I Ain’t Sorry
I love Beyonce’s album Lemonade, especially one of the album’s lyrics: Sorry, I ain’t sorry. I love the power of these words, and I often find them dancing in my head in a variety of situations.
Why? Because, as women, we’re often told to take a back seat. As people of color, we’re often told to take a back seat. And as women of color, well, we don’t even get a chair. We’re supposed to apologize for taking up space in this world.
But I’m done with that. Now, I unapologetically stand in my power. Sorry, I ain’t sorry.
Watch the video to hear about how I recently stood up for myself in public—and why I’m saying, sorry, I ain’t sorry when it comes to claiming my place in the world.
